I feel the light is different here in Africa. And our stories are amazing! I prefer to think that I'm recording stories rather than only images. I have been privileged to travel to about 40 countries, I have lived and worked on three continents, but home is consistently where I am most inspired, connected and encouraged to grow. For now, it's just me and my old Sony ar7ii with a Sony 200-600 5.6 zoom lens and my bean-bag out there. I covet a Sony 9 for its superior auto-focus capabilities, and of course a primary lens or two! Each trip presents new opportunities for learning, and I appreciate what I have learned from other photographers out there, so there's value in sharing! Feel free to connect or comment. Wildlife photography is just one genre I enjoy, alongside my husband who takes awesome videos! Here are some of the amazingly created creatures of our continent in their beautiful natural surroundings. I hope they bring some joy...
They say that once that red Kalahari sand has made its home in your shoes, you will always want to go back there. Unspoilt wilderness, treasured sightings and the rich human heritage, ensures that the Kgalagadi Transfronteir Park produces an unforgettable experience.
The Kruger National Park has so much to offer. One of my earliest memories are there, of my mom here cini-camera (8mm film). And there are always so many surprises there. Find your favourite part of the park, spend enough time there, and it will deliver--every time!
Bird photography is not for the faint-hearted but it is absolutely worth the challenge when you capture that sparkle in the eye--a sharp shot. One just has to keep trying. I'm not a Birder. But photos keeps ones passion for photography equal to one's passion for the subject. Here are some of our feathered friends who sat still for long enough...
The South African coastline provides an added dimension to the region's wildlife and natural environment. I haven't ventured into underwater photography, (even though I have done a shark-cage dive)! Nevertheless, there is enough going on above-water to keep me interested for now.
Follow me into the secret world inside flowers! From the prolific bloom on the West Coast and Northern Cape of South Africa, to the wild Cosmos in Lesotho, and Water-lilies on the Chobe River, the closer one is drawn into flowers, the more secrets are revealed: crystals, patterns, pollen, forests, insects--a whole new micro macro universe--for the macro lens!
